LEGNANO – Alessandria is saved, but Legnano is not. Two mocking destinies of the two glorious and historic sports clubs of our local football. Two destinies crossed in the name of Enea Benedetto, former president of the grays at the beginning of this unfortunate season and currently patron of Legnano football.
Both the clubs are relegated: Legnano in Eccellenza and the grays in Serie D, where they will start the season with 8 penalty points.
In Alessandria, however, they take a breather, because as Piccolo writes, the company announces the entry of new investors “who are based in London” and will take over 35 percent of the gray company.
“We have signed the agreement, we will go to the notary shortly. This capitalization allows us to look to the future,” declares Molinaro. However, the accounts are currently blocked, “even those of Juventus and Vivaticket. To pay for the water I paid for it with my own money, from my companies.”
Molinaro adds that the new club “is made up of people who know football and have been involved in the sport for some time. They have been a terrible two months, but we have demonstrated to those who wanted us to fail that we are alive and, now, we have at our side people who will bring their experience, as well as important resources for a medium and long-term program”.
Investors are not simply a fund, but “a group of companies that offers securities to be transformed into liquidity”. Among these is One Global Sports Investment Ltd, British with Italian components, such as Mioara Done, a basketball player and coach, as well as involved in politics. In football, Antonio Caceres Lopez, who works in the Spanish third series at Sabadell, is also involved. One of the two will join the new board of directors. Molinaro reassures that “within ten days we will pay everything, the resources are there now. They are arriving”.
To close this season, 650 thousand euros are needed. There is also a debt recovery plan which provides for an initial sum of around 750 thousand euros, with the remainder spread over ten years.
So far Alexandria. But the Legnano? The silence with which the matter is dragging itself towards failure is embarrassing. Benedetto’s shares are seized, there is no way out. You can’t sell, you can’t give away, you can’t manage anything. Legnano is dead and patron Enea knows it perfectly, even if he pretends to continue to gain further time.
The alternatives? Founding a new company as done a Siena (another square that had the misfortune of being managed by the former lilla patron Montanari), do a merger, buy a new player.
