The ranting accusations of the current president of Barletta Marco Arturo Romano have been trashed
VITERBO – “We expected it but we are still very satisfied because the Prosecutor’s Office has deemed that there is no crime committed by our clients and, from what I learn from the press, not even by the mayor and the councillor”.
This is what we read in Eleonora Celestini’s article for the “Corriere di Viterbo”.
The lawyer Enrico Valentini, lawyer together with his colleague Fausto Barili of the entrepreneurs Piero Camilli, Gianni Patrizi and Francesco Torroni, thus comments on the request for dismissal by the prosecutors of the Viterbo Prosecutor’s Office, Massimiliano Siddi and Chiara Capezzuto, in relation to the complaint filed a few month ago from the US Viterbese of Marco Arturo Romano and Luca Tilia (now together at the helm of Barletta) towards their clients, the mayor Chiara Frontini and the sports councilor Emanuele Aronne.
The reason for the dispute, as is known, is the Enrico Rocchi stadium affair: in August 2023, once the agreement with Viterbese expired, the Municipality did not intend to renew it, also receiving a victory at the TAR. But Romano has always maintained that there was a “criminal plan” behind this choice.
However, the two public prosecutors considered the elements presented by Luca Tilia, in his capacity as lawyer for Marco Romano and the Usv, who had filed a complaint for criminal association, auction rigging and fraud, even requesting the application of precautionary measures for the accused, although this is the prerogative of the magistrate and not of the complainant.
“It couldn’t have been anything else in the face of a sort of fictional story, full of inferences – continues Valentini -, culminating with the request for arrest formulated by the civil party. There is never an end to the absurd and the ridiculous, but as far as our clients are concerned the issue does not end here.” Now the ball passes to the investigating judge, who will have to rule on the request for dismissal. “But when there is a supposed criminal association and the prosecutors ask for it to be dismissed after a few months – intervenes the lawyer Barili -, someone has probably taken fireflies for lanterns. And we believe that this someone is not the Viterbo Prosecutor’s Office.”
