The future of the former colonies. Enel, green light for demolition. Murri becomes a car park

The future of the former colonies in two steps. The first is the demolition of the Enel colony. The bulldozers are approaching after the ruling of the regional Territory and Environment commission which downgraded the property. The other is the conversion of the Murri spaces which will become a rest area serving tourists and the Sea Park where the stalls have disappeared.

Let’s start with the former Enel. The regional commission accepted the request of the Municipality of Rimini to downgrade the property, making it go from ‘Maritime colony of historical-testimonial interest of limited architectural value’ to ‘Colony without historical-testimonial interest’. “An important team result – says the mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad – to ensure that one of the greatest symbols of degradation can be overcome in southern Rimini”. Once the interest has been removed, the structure can be demolished, which according to the mayor could happen in 2025. “We have already discussed together with the curator to place a restriction aimed at expropriation and for all the procedures to acquire the property and redevelop the area”. PD councilor Nadia Rossi was also satisfied: “We have kept our promise. It is necessary to redesign the destination of these structures which cannot represent a black hole, in light of the investments made to redevelop the coast and the hotel structures”. The former Enel colony will be swept away to make way for a large square on the sea, parking and services.

News also for Murri. The municipal council has given the green light to the feasibility project for the new car park in the area outside the building. It involves creating 61 parking spaces and 244 spaces for motorbikes which will replace (in part) those that were missing with the creation of the Sea Park, with the aim of avoiding what is happening in Marina centre, Piazzale Marvelli area , with the invasion of scooters along the seafront stretch. The area, which is available to the bankruptcy trustee of the former colony, will be used by the Municipality thanks to the lease agreement signed to use it as a car park in the summer period.
