«Unacceptable accusations. If they have evidence, they should press charges” – BitontoLive.it

Below is the note from the majority coalition, as a response to the statement from some opposition forces (Fratelli d’Italia, Patto Comune, Forza Italia, Lega, Patto Comune, Onda Civica, Uniti per Bitonto) regarding alleged unequal treatment for the organization of city events.

«Despite the numerous appeals to put aside the sterile and superficial controversies to try to work synergistically for the growth of the community, we note with great regret that some minority political forces have no intention of accepting our invitation but rather continue undaunted to fuel a climate of hatred that benefits no one.

We learn from the press that the latest accusation made against the municipal administration concerns alleged “injustices in the management of authorizations for the organization of events in our city”. This insinuation, in addition to being particularly serious and – above all – without any foundation, shoots into the mix without providing the necessary and necessary proof of what is being stated. Permits for the organization of events are managed and issued by the relevant municipal offices, after appropriate verification of the existence of the requirements for the regular implementation of such initiatives. We cannot therefore allow talk of unequal treatment or alleged interests on the part of some political representatives in the issuing of authorisations. These are serious and unacceptable accusations. If the political forces in question believe that this is happening in our city, we invite them to file a formal complaint with the relevant authorities avoiding relying exclusively on simple – and unproductive – communication through the press.

Furthermore, Bitonto will also have its own program of events this summer, just as happened in the previous one. In fact, at the beginning of June, the public notice “Bitonto city of festivals” – Festival Network 2024 was released, the deadline for which is set for 20 June at 12, in order to promote musical, artistic and cultural events that will be held in Bitonto, Mariotto and Palombaio. This public notice will be followed by another call to support the many associations and entities in the area, even the younger and less structured ones, in planning further initiatives for the summer. We reiterate it once again: our administration has never closed its doors to anyone and is always ready to welcome any worthy proposal. It seems quite bizarre to us that the call to build a more just and inclusive community comes precisely from those political forces that continue to fuel a climate of division without producing any positive effect for the community.”
