Historical relics and the stories of the protagonists merge with multimedia videos to project ourselves forward in time towards the future. This is the content of the exhibition “250 years of the Guardia di Finanza: from its origins to the modern economic and financial police” inaugurated today at the Covered Walk of the Saint-Remy Bastion in Cagliari, organized by the Sardinia Regional Command in collaboration with the State Archives of Cagliari.

At the ceremony, alongside the regional commander of Sardinia, the Brigadier General Claudio Bolognese civil, military and religious authorities were present. The exhibition was inaugurated with the ribbon cutting entrusted to the patroness of the event, Donata Cabras, president of the Sardinia jurisdictional section of the Court of Auditors. “The multimedia exhibition, conceived in the wake of the motto of the 250th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Corps, “In tradition the future” – they explain from Fiamme Gialle – aims to tell the history and evolution of the tasks of the Guardia di Finanza from its origins to the present with a projection towards the future, through an exhibition of multimedia presentations, descriptive panels and embellished with valuable pieces including period uniforms, relics, historical documents, technological tools used over the years, coming from the Museum Center of Sardinia regional command, from the State Archives of Cagliari and from private collections”.

The historical exhibition starts from 1774, the year of establishment of the Legion of Light Troops of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the first Italian example of a Corps conceived for the military and customs surveillance of the borders, which “highlighted a profound bond with the Sardinian territory – underlined by the Guardia of finance – especially through the story of the exploits of some, among the many, Sardinian financier heroes who distinguished themselves during the First and Second World Wars”. The exhibition then moves to the present. Through multimedia devices, visitors can explore the current institutional tasks entrusted to the Corps.
