Doubts and controversies over the invitation to the mayor under investigation in Trame: moral responsibility on a solidarity level

We are on the eve of the inauguration of the Trame cultural exhibition dedicated to books on the mafia and I happened to come across the names of the guests and among these I saw with enormous surprise the presence for the opening evening of the mayor of Reggio Calabria Falcomatà.
Far from wanting to wave the justicialist flag, we at Exit are well aware that the investigation into the city of the Strait which also concerns the mayor is only in the investigation phase and consequently we remain firm advocates of the most absolute guarantees but at the same time we believe it is clearly out of place the invitation given to the mayor of Reggio Calabria.
A few years ago we remember the participation in Trame of the regional Calabria Etica foundation, which occurred among other things with the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Calabria Region.
At the time this foundation was led by Pasqualino Ruberto who was not yet under investigation at that time.
However, there was strong protest and disapproval from the entire left-wing world in the face of such a presence, which was embarrassing for them and which went against the ethical principles and spirit that animated Trame and for which the demonstration itself was born.
Now we at Exit ask ourselves: is this no longer valid for a mayor who, unlike Ruberto at the time, is under investigation for all intents and purposes by the judiciary and where there is a risk of dissolution of the Reggio civic council due to mafia?
Or has that spirit of cleanliness and hope of legality always linked to the event with an eschatological principle, the defeat of crime and the mafia also through culture and the testimony of the victims of the mafia itself changed?
We at Exit are so embarrassed by this presence and equally embarrassing is the deafening silence, never an oxymoron can be more apt, of an entire city community, in the expression of their parties, both centre-right and centre-left with that movement at the head Cinquestelle which was once so sensitive to these things while today it too is perfectly integrated into a system which continues to be rotten and corrupt.
Evidently memory is short but where others don’t reach, we at Exit make our aversion towards all this felt.
There is no joint responsibility on a moral level, but there is a moral responsibility on a joint level, the organizers of Trame should keep this in mind.
