19 June 2024 – RIANO-TIVOLI (ROME) – PROCEEDINGS AGAINST UNKNOWN PERSONS
FOR THE DAMAGE OF THE MONUMENT IN MEMORY OF THE FINDING OF THE BODY
BY THE HON. GIACOMO MATTEOTTI AND VIOLATION OF THE SCELBA LAW (APOLOGY OF
FASCISM). INVESTIGATIONS IN PROGRESS TO IDENTIFY THOSE RESPONSIBLE.
We communicate in order to ensure the right to freedom of the press constitutionally
guaranteed, that the Tivoli Prosecutor’s Office proceeds against unknown persons for:
* Aggravated contempt of the monument dedicated to the memory of
discovery of the body of the Hon Giacomo Matteotti (articles 408 of the criminal code and 61 n.
1 cp);
* Apology of fascism (art. 4 law 20 June 1952 number 645, so-called
Scelba law).
Acts committed in Riano on the night between 17 and 18 June 2024.
In the municipality of Riano, in via Flaminia in the Quarta area, the
monument in memory of the place where it was found, dated 16 August 2024
body of deputy Giacomo Matteotti kidnapped and murdered on 10 June 1924.
On the morning of 18 June 2024 the municipal police of Riano ascertained
that unknown persons, presumably during the night, had defaced the monument
by applying the words “viva fascio” with a black spray can
other signs.
The insult occurred a few days after the public ceremony
of 10 June 2024 during which it was celebrated by the institutions
the centenary of the death of the Hon. Matteotti, with laying of a wreath
of flowers, also defaced, placed on behalf of the President of the
Italian republic.
Investigations were promptly delegated to the Company Carabinieri
of Bracciano who are already in action to identify those responsible for the serious incident
act of vandalism committed a few days after the centenary
of the assassination of the Hon. Matteotti
