Summer stays for seniors, everything you need to know. Registrations open

Registrations are open for participation in summer stays aimed at older citizens. Also this year the Municipality of La Spezia has organized summer stays aimed at supporting active ageing, promoting activities that develop socialisation. And so, in collaboration with the voluntary associations Ada, Anteas and Auser, a series of initiatives aimed at socialization with daily stays in the area and short-term trips were implemented. The choice of locations has the aim of enhancing both the city area and the surrounding area through short daytime stays in the locations described below. Furthermore, two “Oasis Areas” have been set up which will be open in the months of July and August 2024 to deal with possible heat waves with the arrival of summer. The “OASI Areas” are air-conditioned and equipped spaces that offer recreational and social activities. “La Spezia has around 24,500 people over 65, equal to 26.3% of the population, of which over 8,000 live alone. – declares the mayor of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini – Summer stays represent important opportunities for sociality and closeness that are always highly appreciated and, as many international studies demonstrate, together with other services they are important as a prevention tool to promote healthy aging as much as possible. Our commitment towards the most fragile citizens is significant and offers various initiatives with the priority objective of preventing forms of hardship, combating social isolation and providing assistance.” “This year too – adds the councilor for social services, Lorenzo Brogi – we confirm the use of resources for the creation of summer holidays for the elderly, through collaboration with third sector associations present in the area, to provide a moment of relief to older citizens and support and enhance the local area. Social services have always been at the forefront of interventions to support the weakest sections of the population, in particular the elderly and disabled”.

Applications to participate in the activities will be collected by the Anteas Association in Via Del Canaletto n. 90 (3518507205) and at the Information Point in Largo Vivaldi 2, from Thursday 20 June to Tuesday 2 July, from 8.30 to 12.30.
