On Saturday 22 June “The Chinese cabinet” of the theater group Il Focolare di Loreto
After the success of the first show on the program of the “Teatro a Corte – Premio Giovanni Macchia” festival, the national theater festival of Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani continues, now in its fourth edition, with the artistic direction of Enzo Matichecchia and Lella Mastrapasqua, in collaboration with the Compagnia dei Teatranti APS of Bisceglie-Trani and the Unione Italiana Libero Teatro. Next Saturday, June 22ndwith the comedy “The Chinese cabinet” by Aldo De Benedetti on the stage of the Court ‘Davide Santorsola’ the theater group Il Focolare di Loreto (AN) will be the protagonist, directed by Rita Papa.
Two elegant ladies from the city’s upper middle class who are friends with each other, discover that they have both had, without the knowledge of each other, a compromising relationship with a handsome playboy who, forced to flee due to financial misadventures, has hidden all the love letters exchanged with his lovers in a Chinese cabinet, a small cabinet full of hiding places and secret drawers.
The two women, soon made allies by circumstances, manage to come into possession of the precious locker to recover and destroy the evidence of their betrayal.
Unfortunately, the cabinet attracts the attention of their husbands who, having discovered the letters, read their contents. Will female cunning or male jealousy win?
The theater group Il Focolare di Loreto (AN) also participated in the call for the national review “Teatro a Corte – Premio Giovanni Macchia”, whose best show, voted by the public, will also this year receive the prestigious prize dedicated to Macchia (Trani 1912 – Rome 2001), distinguished scholar and writer, one of the most important Italian critics of the twentieth century.
The theatrical program, which has been so successful in previous editions, will enthrall with other plays on a weekly basis until July 20th. Every Saturday you can enjoy theatrical performances that range from comedies of errors to farce, not without more intimate and introspective food for thought. There artistic programming of Palazzo delle Arti Beltrania multifunctional cultural container of the city of Trani, is curated by the director Niki Battaglia, enjoys the media partner of Radio Selene and was created by the Association of the Arts with the collaboration and support of the City of Trani, the patronage of the Andria International Festival Castel dei Mondi, the intervention of the Puglia Region, the PACT Polo Arti Cultura Turismo of the Region, Extraordinary Plan 2022 “Let’s safeguard Culture in Puglia” – Special Fund for Culture and Cultural Heritage LR 40/2016, art.15, paragraph 3 and the Puglia Public Theater.
