L’AQUILA – “The arrosticino is an excellent product of Abruzzo which must be protected and valorised, without clashes and divisions. For this reason I ask for a discussion table with Masaf, local producers and breeders as soon as possible so as to have an exact picture of the situation of the sector, of what the problems, priorities and needs are, and therefore arrive, through the most shared possibility, to the choice between the PDO mark, Protected Designation of Origin, and the PGI mark, Protected Geographical Indication, for which the preliminary phase for recognition has already been underway for years”.
This was underlined by the leader of the League in the Region and president of the Budget Council Commission, Vincenzo D’Inceccoregarding the discussion on the protection of the Abruzzo arrosticino.
“The kebab sector – underlines D’Incecco – must increasingly become a driving sector for our region. Including related activities, it currently has a turnover of over one billion euros. Furthermore, between 12 and 15 thousand workers are employed in this area; over 2,500 catering businesses are affected. About seventy production companies. The objective must now be to strengthen its potential, to defend and grow not just one part, but the entire sector. For this reason we believe that today it is more realistic to continue along the path already started some time ago, laying the foundations for achieving more ambitious results in the future.”
