B2B meetings and the fashion show in Palermo, Sicily Fashion Week ends

The first edition of Sicily Fashion Week has just ended, the fashion week organized by Confartigianato Imprese Sicilia.

From 12 to 16 June the spotlight was turned on the city of Palermo for the first edition of Sicily Fashion Week, which ended on Sunday with a Fashion Show at Villa Tasca.

Protagonists i Sicilian fashion brands who showed, through meetings with buyers and the final catwalk, their know-how in the name of craftsmanship.

A week dedicated to Sicilian clothing and accessories brands, with a series of showcase meetings with an international scope.

The curtain closes on the first edition of Sicily Fashion Week which, from 12 to 16 Junesaw protagonists 19 Sicilian companies engaged in B2B meetings with foreign buyers selected by Camera Showroom Milano and coming from Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Austria and Uzbekistan.

A unique occasion, desired and organized by Confartigianato Imprese Sicilia, to raise awareness of the island’s artisan brands who were able to present and talk about their products and establish important commercial relationships.

“Confartigianato Sicilia wanted to make this investment so that our artisan skills are increasingly highlighted”, commented the regional president, Daniele La Porta.

Sicily Fashion Week 2024, the grand finale with fashion show at Villa Tasca

SFW2024 ended with a grand finale a Villa TascaSept of the Fashion Show which saw, among others, companies from Made in Sicily bridal and ceremony fashion.

In the spotlight, the dresses of the bridal and formal brands Flavia Pinello, Tinarena, Giusi Munafò Atelier, Syrtaria l’arte del sewing, Kea Atelier.

But also the creations of Fancs V, Barocco oro, GB Orafi, Bisso, Officina 73, Euphòria, Kostumari, Alice Salmeri, Aqva & Co, Danié, Studio Stilistico di Lucia Caccamo, Reytel, Denario, Vali Boutique.

And with Eliana Chiavetta as presenter of the evening.

An exciting show, in which particular emphasis was given to “Sicilianness” thanks to the artistic direction entrusted to Luca Lo Bosco.

“Today fashion is the flagship of all our sectors. When we talk about Italian fashion, Italian craftsmanship, we talk about excellence, uniqueness and creativity that the whole world recognizes in us”, he underlined Marco Granellipresident of Confartigianato Imprese.

“At a time when the standardization and homologation of all products has ended, despite the difficulties that our sector experiences, we can say that fashion can be a very important driver for making known the beauty of our country and what the Our artisans do it in a unique way with attention to detail that makes our products attractive at all latitudes”, he concluded.

A concept underlined by Philip Ribisinational vice-president of Confartigianato Imprese, who commented: “This year Confartigianato has decided to invest in Sicilian fashion and everything that revolves around fashion”.

“We started from Sicily and Palermo to enhance the professionalism that our island has and which perhaps until now have not been encouraged in the right way. This is an opportunity to showcase them and show them to the whole of Italy and also abroad thanks to the presence of Camera Show Room buyers”, she concluded.

“We brought buyers from all over the world to SFW and they were enthusiastic about these companies – he then underlined Gigliola Maule, president of Csm-Camera Showroom Milan –. I hope that this can only be the beginning of a journey, of this beautiful project which can provide important development opportunities throughout the world.”

And he concludes with a promise: “Being able to export local excellence to embassies around the world could be a good initiative, but in the meantime replicating this evening’s fashion show at Villa Tasca in Milan is part of our plans.”

Also on the catwalk are the clothes of Flavia Pinelloregional fashion president of Confartigianato Sicilia, who commented: “It was a bet and we can say that it was won, our brands have proven to be valid and promising”.

“New projects are emerging with Camera Show Room, with the buyers we have invited and with the Sprint Sicilia internationalization desk. We were right, we were certain that by giving our companies a stage they would get noticed. And so it was,” she concluded with satisfaction.

Also on the catwalk are the creations of the winners of the “Contemporary Santa Rosalia, vision and contamination of the modern woman” contest, selected among the students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo from the fashion and goldsmith courses and the students of Endofap.

Akter Nidi, Algeri Maria Sartoria, Desireé Coppola, Cristopher Maddeddu, Marta Seidita, Roberta Pugliese, Michele Scancarello and Erica Della Valle brought their vision of contemporary fashion into the spotlight with eight creative looks freely inspired by the “Santuzza” on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Santa Rosalia celebration.

The winners of the two categories in the competition – fashion and goldsmithing – were chosen by the vice mayor Giampiero Cannella, by the municipal councilors for Social Activities, Rosi Pennino and for Youth Policies, Fabrizio Ferrandelli and the municipal councilor Leopoldo Piampiano.

And, for Confartigianato, by the president of the Palermo association Maria Grazia Bonsignore and the
provincial president of goldsmiths, Simona Elia. Also on the jury is the Austrian buyer Odo Mischitz.
