From this year to project “Mitoff suburbs – classical theatre, music and myths in the neighbourhoods” the “ is addedClassical Theater Laboratory” created and directed by the actor and director Salvatore Guglielmino from which it will be born”The Company of Myths“.
“This year for the “Palcoscenico Catania. Beauty without borders”, promoted by the Municipality of Catania and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture – explains Salvatore Guglielmino, winner of the cultural initiative several times – given the large turnout and the many positive responses from all the participants in the various workshops and shows of the previous editions, I decided to create a “Classical Theater Laboratory”, without age limits, which will be a hotbed of talents who will actively participate in the nascent “Company of Myths“.
“The current teachings of the Greek myths will continue to live in the most complex areas of the city such as the neighborhoods of San Giovanni Galermo and Antico Corso – continues Guglielmino – with the precise aim of promoting social and cultural inclusion in those areas of our territory that present greater suffering to spread the seed of culture“.
Access to the laboratory is free and is aimed at all people aged 18 to 98, who will show up for the auditions on Tuesday 25 June at Casale dell’Arte (via playa 200), at 6pm, after having booked their participation at number 351 4885728. The students selected from July to December 2024 will be protagonists in the shows of the Mitoffest, Culture periferie and Catania Summer fest events.
“During the lessons the “Regenerative Theatre. Theatrical art of well-being” method will be used – concludes Salvatore Guglielmino – a particular type of teaching created by me aimed at all ages and in different contexts which introduces various theatrical forms through the use of techniques used in the performing arts and well-being for greater self-knowledge“.
