REGGIO EMILIA – “Vincent, letters from the other half of the sky” is the title of a show of narration, images and music which will be held on Thursday 11 July, at 9.00 pm, in the fabulous setting of the Benedictine Cloisters of San Pietro. At the center of the scene is the troubled and painful life of Vincent Van Gogh, told through some extracts from his correspondence with his brother Theo and the critical commentary on some of his most famous works.

Giving word, body and artistic gestures back to the Dutch genius will be Francesco Lenzini, who will perform in a highly innovative model of storytelling that includes elements of powerful theatricality, which has become a stylistic hallmark of the Reggio Emilia performer, based on the poetic and dramatic life of the Dutch master, reworked in an original and engaging text. The story is enriched with illustrations taken from some of his masterpieces and will be accompanied by the music of Edoardo Ponzi on vibraphone and Giorgio Genta on guitar, who will alternate original compositions with rearranged songs. Words, images and music merge, therefore, in front of the public, in a staging characterized by a strong emotional impact, within an architectural-artistic context of great value.

The large cloister of San Pietro, the arena in which the event will take place, has an availability of 490 outdoor seats. Pre-sale of tickets (entrance: 10 euros) is active on the Vivaticket online platform and at the ticket office of the Cloisters of San Pietro, open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 to 20.00.

This initiative is part of the group of activities promoted and organized by Consorzio Quarantacinque and Archeosistemi, a cooperative society with the aim of producing and spreading the values of culture and sociality, giving depth and visibility to a place, the Cloisters of San Pietro, which recalls and welcomes in the heart of Reggio Emilia the community, visitors and tourists so that they can appreciate a historical-architectural complex of great beauty and charm.
