The new construction sites for the construction of the ‘priority lot’ of the Ciclovia Tirrenica are underway in the La Spezia area, financed for a total of 34.5 million euros through the Pnrr, state funds, regional funds and resources from the regional Development and Cohesion 2021-2027 funds. After the completion of the tender and award phases by the end of 2023, the areas in the La Spezia area were handed over to the successful companies today for the start of work on the new section of cycle/pedestrian path between the Municipality of Sarzana and Fosdinovo and in the Municipality of Castelnuovo Magra (section 5, subsections 1 and 2) with an investment of over 10.2 million euros. Construction will then also start in July for the Luni and Sarzana sections (section 5, subsection 3) for a further 3,919,450 euros.

“The new construction sites in the far east of Liguria are ready to start, adding further important pieces in the construction of the Tirrenica Cycle Route – declares the Councilor for Infrastructure of the Liguria Region Giacomo Giampedrone – in full compliance with the times set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, main source of financing for the ‘priority lot’. The conclusion of these excerpts is expected by 2025, when Liguria will see a large part of this strategic infrastructure built which in a few years will connect Ventimiglia to Sarzana and continue to Tuscany and then to Rome. It wasn’t easy to get this far: we got there with 10 million euros of investments for the safety of the Parmignola, with 5 million euros on the Lunense Canal to which are added the 15 million of the Pinqua for the new promenade and the redevelopment of the village of Marinella di Sarzana. A colossal commitment that will allow us to radically improve this area in a couple of years, for the benefit of residents, tourists and the economy of the whole of Liguria”.

In particular, the construction of the ‘priority lot’ in the La Spezia area covers a route of 14.8 kilometers between Sarzana center and Marinella di Sarzana (border with Tuscany) through the municipalities of Sarzana, Fosdinovo, Castelnuovo Magra and Luni.

This section is financed overall with 14 million and 114,123 thousand euros, of which almost 13 million euros (12,957,000 euros) from Pnrr funds and 1 million and 166 thousand euros from state funds transferred by the Tuscany Region for the lot of Fosdinovo.

From a design point of view, this section of the Tirrenica Ciclovia runs mainly along the banks of the Lunense Canal with the construction from scratch of some sections and the restyling of the routes already traced, guaranteeing the connection with the Tuscan section.
