CATANIA – Agents of the Central police station and anti-drug dog units of the Upgsp arrested a 32-year-old Senegalese man for drug dealing during a control activity in the central San Berillo district of Catania. The service also saw the use of a Carabinieri battalion which created a perimeter around the State Police agents working within the district.

173 grams of hashish were seized from the 32-year-old, 45 grams of marijuana, 14 wraps of crack with a total weight of 2.74 grams, and 47 euros, believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs. During a search of a property used by him, the dog Maui’s nose made it possible to discover the presence of four blocks of hashish and 450 grams of marijuana, as well as material for packaging doses.

In the man’s car the police found a 47 centimeter long machete, 25 of which were blades, and for this reason he was reported in a state of freedom for illegal possession of a weapon. After being charged with the crimes, the 32-year-old was taken to prison.

The other drug finds

In the same operation in San Berillo other quantities were found of narcotic substances hidden and ready to be sold, as in the case of the marijuana wrapper weighing 16 grams, hidden under a wooden bench in via Carro, discovered thanks to the help of the drug-sniffing dog.

In a more meticulous and scrupulous search under a manhole in the corner between via Buda and via Pistone, a cellophane bag containing 101 grams of marijuana and a precision scale was found, all seized from unknown persons.
