Rimini. Offshore rescue. The boat capsizes and sinks: the three castaways are rescued

PRESS REVIEW – The accident two miles from the coast. The two men and the woman on board had left Riccione for an excursion: “We experienced terrible moments, but luckily we are all fine”

They were two miles away from the coast, near the former Bolognese colony of Rimini, when during navigation something went wrong and the boat on board which there were three people: all from Rimini and Riccione, two men from 56 and 37 years old and a 43 year old woman, began to sink. It happened on Sunday afternoon around 6.30pm. It seems that everything started from a wrong manoeuvre, which due to some gusts of wind ranging from 19 to 25 knots (therefore 50-60 kilometers per hour) favored the capsizing of the sailing vessel under ten metres. Thus, the small cabin cruiser was claimed by the sea – unable to return to the surface due to too much water taken on board during the capsizing -, causing the occupants to end up in the water. The request for help from the coast guard therefore came directly from the woman who was on board, who was the first to report the problems encountered by the vessel. Shortly after the SOS, the line was interrupted and the search began. Fortunately, the daylight favored the work of the coast guard soldiers, who with the CP 2107 patrol boat and the Perla Verde fast boat managed to identify the three shipwrecked. But while the military was able to recover the people safe and sound, nothing could be done for the vessel which sank, sank and was found to be unrecoverable. (…)
