The wish of the general director Bruno Di Palma

It begins with a quote from Letter about happiness Of Epicurus (“May the young person be mature, thanks to the absence of fear regarding the future”, the wish of the general director of the regional school office, Bruno Di Palmaat his first high school diploma as ‘head’ of the Rmilia-Romagna school.

“I am sure that you will face the tests that await you with the utmost commitment and with a great sense of responsibility in order to demonstrate your abilities and give account of your potential after an academic course carried out over 13 years – he writes -. I am also certain that your teachers, the external members and the presidents of the Commissions will be able to guarantee you peaceful exams, placing you at the center and enabling you to give the best of yourselves, one by one. I am aware of the fact that you have invested a lot of time and energy to study with passion and arrive prepared for the tests, certain of being able to give your best.”

After Epicurus, Di Palma quotes Giovanni Pascoli to invite the graduates “to an unusual gallop”, to the so-called final rush that has always accompanied the days before the tests. “Do not give up! Try to prepare yourself well before the famous ‘night before the exams’, a song that has now become the soundtrack of every student who has achieved this goal and which this year marks the fortieth anniversary of its release. Just as safely, remember that this is a moment of life, of your life, which will have many other opportunities and important moments, so don’t be overwhelmed by anxiety or tension.”

In short, “as someone said many years ago, exams never end. You spent 5 years in secondary school, some of which were characterized by an unprecedented and global pandemic, by wars and conflicts unfortunately still ongoing, by a problematic international context, but rest assured that you, yes… you, will be able to lift up and give confidence to this world, giving us too the joy of seeing you satisfied and happy. And indeed, as Epicurus teaches us: ‘No one is too young or too old for the well-being of the soul’. Work towards what can ‘give rise to happiness, because if it is present we have everything, if it is missing we do everything to obtain it’. Good luck, from the bottom of my heart!”.
