LAWN. The Superintendency of Artistic and Cultural Heritage has given a favorable opinion to the project presented by the municipal council on the proposal of the former councilor for culture and current municipal councilor Simone Mangani, for the relocation of the work “Prato88”, better known as Mezzaluna by Mauro Staccioli.
Prato88 together with other works placed in the museum garden were removed in 2009, to allow for the expansion works of the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art. The Mezzaluna has been preserved in Macrolott 1, on municipal property, and will be relocated on the hill between the roundabout of the Prato Police Headquarters and the entrance to the Pecci Centre, for which the artist Mauro Staccioli had designed it.
«The authorization from the Superintendence certifies the work done by the Municipality of Prato in collaboration with the Pecci Center, the Foundation for contemporary arts in Tuscany, the Cassa di Risparmio di Prato foundation and the Mauro Staccioli Archive – comments the outgoing councilor Simone Mangani, today municipal councilor – Prato88, renamed by all Mezzaluna, will soon return to mark a symbol not only of the Pecci Center, but of the city of Prato”.

For this reason, the Cassa di Risparmio di Prato Foundation has given its support, making important resources available for the definition of the relocation project. The work returns to its place, a powerful and welcoming symbol also for those arriving in the city.”
The project was created by the architect Antonio Silvestri of the Municipality of Prato and financed by the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation which provided the resources necessary to carry out the technical design of the intervention, while the resources for the placement are already foreseen by the budget of the Municipality of Lawn.
