A New Splendor for Giotto’s Majesty

The ‘Shine’ Project: A New Splendor for Giotto’s Majesty

On Wednesday 19 June, at 10 am, the Municipal Art Gallery of Perugia will be the stage for a significant event. A press conference dedicated to the “Brillare” project will be held, an initiative that led to the lighting redevelopment of Giotto’s Maestà. This improvement was possible thanks to the intervention of the Elettrica Valeri company.

The conference will see the participation of several prominent personalities. Among these, the mayor Stefania Proietti, the director of the national museums of Perugia Costantino d’Orazio, the director of the Municipal Art Gallery Giulio Proietti Bocchini, the president of the Elettrica Valeri company based in Gualdo Cattaneo, Luca Valeri, and the physics teacher environmental technician of the University of Perugia, Anna Laura Pisello. The conference will be moderated by Giovanni Parapini, director of the Rai regional headquarters.

The “Brillare” project is an example of how art and technology can work together to enhance cultural heritage. The Elettrica Valeri company carried out this intervention free of charge, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its foundation. This gesture demonstrates the company’s commitment to contributing to the conservation and valorization of Italy’s artistic heritage.

Giotto’s Majesty, one of the most admired works in the Municipal Art Gallery, now shines in a new light. This project not only improved the lighting of the work, but also made the viewing experience more engaging for visitors. The “Brillare” project is an example of how innovation can contribute to enhancing artistic and cultural heritage, making works of art more accessible and appreciated by the public.
