Airports of Rome (ADR) introduced two new digital services for passengers at Fiumicino airport, accessible via the platform “Digiport“. These innovative ADR services, designed for improve the traveler experienceallow you to receive real-time updates on the status of flights and monitor boarding operations directly from your smartphone thanks to the use of artificial intelligence.

The first service, a chatbot via WhatsApp, allows passengers to obtain notifications on the status of flights and detailed information on Fiumicino airport services. Travelers can access this dedicated chat by scanning a QR Code in the lower section of the Flight Info Monitor. This system allows you to check the status of your flight at any time, simplifying your stay at the airport without having to constantly consult the terminal displays.

Through the use of micro-cameras coordinated by artificial intelligence, the system collects and processes data on boarding operations in real time, allowing travelers to view the live streaming of the flight progress from your mobile phone. Updates include the percentage of completion of the boarding processoffering passengers the possibility to freely choose when to queue, thus optimizing the time spent at the airport.

These new services represent a concrete example of Open Innovation and collaboration with startups, having been developed in partnership with Airport AI and ZestIot, two of the startups participating in the Call4ideas launched by Aeroporti di Roma at the Innovation Hub located in Terminal 1 of Fiumicino. The Innovation Hub is the first business accelerator dedicated to the development of startups in the airport sector.
