Also last weekend and until today’s morning, specific general prevention services were carried out by operational units of the Bolzano Police Headquarters, the POLFER, and the Dog Units of the Guardia di Finanza, ordered by order from the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori. , and the Local Police of Bolzano, with the specialized support of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police.

The City of Bolzano, therefore, since last Friday has been the scene of numerous checks carried out by over 60 women and men belonging to the police forces and aimed, as in the previous phases, at the prevention and combating of crimes against property, the drug dealing and predatory crime in general.

In particular, attention was paid to the areas of Viale Druso, Via Alto Adige, Via Garibaldi, Via dei Cappuccini, Via Perathoner, Vicolo San Giovanni, the railway station and the surrounding streets – thanks to the effective prevention action implemented by POLFER and the Soldiers of the “STRADE SICURE” operation, –, as well as the streets of the historic center.
On this occasion a patrol from the “Flying” Squad of the State Police tracked down an undocumented individual. From the investigations carried out it emerged that this man – identified by this CB, a 30-year-old Gambian citizen who landed in Sicily in 2017 – had a request for international protection rejected by the Territorial Commission of Trapani last March. During his stay in Italy, CB had been reported to the Judicial Authority of Agrigento for possession of narcotic substances for the purposes of dealing; he then moved to Matera, where he was arrested for drug dealing.

Once released from prison, he had seen fit to move to Bolzano, where he had also been reported for possession for the purpose of dealing drugs, for theft and for receiving stolen goods. In consideration of the lack of qualifications to remain in Italy and the criminal record against him, the Police Commissioner issued an Expulsion Decree against CB, and ordered his immediate transfer to the “Ponte Galeria” Repatriation Permanence Centre. ” of Rome, waiting to be escorted to the country of origin as soon as possible.

During the aforementioned services, special attention was paid to those areas where the presence of individuals involved in drug dealing is usually recorded, as well as to those reported for the commission of illicit activities.
Furthermore, specifically, interventions were carried out to prevent and monitor presences at the “CENTRUM” and “TWENTY” Shopping Centers, and some abandoned buildings in Salita Sant’Osvaldo and in Via Flavon, already the scene of similar operations, were inspected. Police carried out in recent days, as well as the areas adjacent to the LAURIN car park, Lungo Talvera and Lungo Isarco, reported by citizens as meeting places for homeless individuals, sometimes present illegally on our national territory, as well as used as a reference point for carrying out of illicit activities: since 2 subjects were found without any reason to justify their presence in Bolzano, the Police Commissioner issued the same number of Mandatory Street Sheets against them with a ban on returning to the Bolzano capital for the next 4 years.

In this context, clear traces of the use of these places as makeshift bivouacs were also detected. This type of control has the aim of keeping these areas monitored in order to prevent critical situations for public order and safety from consolidating.

Furthermore, last Friday and this morning, the Police Commissioner ordered a monitoring and prevention service in the areas close to some schools in the Municipality of Bolzano – in particular near the secondary education institutes in via Luigi Cadorna and the scientific high school. Torricelli in via Rovigo – also following reports from parents who had expressed the importance of carrying out checks near educational institutions during the influx and exit of students. These monitoring activities are aimed at preventing malicious individuals from approaching children in front of schools, luring them into illegal situations or offering them to purchase drugs. During these specific police activities, no particular critical situations were highlighted.

Overall – also during the 7 checkpoints carried out along the arteries leading to the city – 13 public businesses, 81 vehicles and 306 people were checked, of which 96 foreigners and 94 with criminal and/or police records.
At the end of the operational activities – in which the Anti-Crime Division and the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters also collaborated, for the parts of their respective competence – the Police Commissioner adopted the following measures:

• 5 Fogli di Via Obligatori (from the Municipality of Bolzano) against people with criminal and/or police records, who found themselves without any appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances in the municipal territory;

• 4 Oral Warnings (Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of anti-mafia laws) towards as many Italian and foreign citizens who denote a marked social danger due to criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds, including crimes against person, in drug matters, or against property;

• 3 Expulsion Decrees / Removal Orders from the National Territory against as many non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police prejudices against them. Following the investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, the Police Commissioner issued the same number of expulsion decrees against 2 of them, ordering these people to leave the territory within 7 days; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and forcibly accompanied to their country of origin.

“The extraordinary control and monitoring operations of parks and urban areas continue in a systematic manner, as in previous weekends, where citizens have reported the presence of harassing individuals or those intent on committing illicit activities – highlighted Commissioner Sartori at the end of the meeting. operation –. These police operations, as well as the prevention and surveillance activities carried out in the vicinity of educational institutions and inside shopping centers and abandoned buildings, are of fundamental importance to prevent and contain those deviant phenomena and delinquent manifestations which affect clearly on the safety of citizens, and to allow the removal from our territory of irregular and multiple offenders”.
