Strengthen synergies for greater protection of the Calabrian territory, promoting the environmental awareness. This is the objective of the memorandum of understanding signed by Alberto Fioregional representative of Plastic Free Calabriathe non-profit organization that has been working to combat plastic pollution since 2019, e Ilaria Bossiodistrict representative of Rotaract District 2102.
“It is a pleasure to collaborate with Plastic Free as we can consolidate an openness of the Clubs towards other organizations operating in the area to spread environmental protection in a widespread manner and create a collective conscience in working towards sustainability and taking care of what surrounds us – declares Ilaria Bossio (Rotaract) – We are aware that change starts from us. Thanks to Plastic Free and its regional contact, Alberto Fio, and his team, for their trust.”
Hopes that find support in the environmentalist association. “We are happy with this agreement which will bring benefits to environmental awareness activities with the involvement of more and more people in clean ups that we will organize in the regional territory – declares Alberto Fio (Plastic Free) – This collaboration will allow us to broaden our range of action and reach an even wider audience of active and aware citizens.”
The memorandum of understanding provides for a series of joint initiatives that aim to raise awareness among the Calabrian population of the importance of environmental protection. Among the planned activities there are clean ups organized to remove plastic and waste and to promote a culture of respect for the environment; awareness events in schools and local communities to educate younger generations on the importance of sustainability; collaborations with local authorities and other organizations to expand the network of subjects involved in environmental protection, promoting active participation.
The agreement between Plastic Free Calabria and Rotaract District 2102 represents a significant step towards creation of a solid and active network for environmental protection in Calabria. Both organizations are committed to working side by side to achieve common goals and to make Calabria an example of sustainability and respect for the environment.
