Ua new inauguration after the one 6 years ago in 2018 for the Local Police garrison at the Foggia intermodal hub. This time the command with the manager Romeo Delle Noci and the officer in charge Antonio D’Introno intends to get serious and ensure a fixed location for the safety of the railway district.
The agents together with the mayor Maria Aida Episcopo and to the branch councillor Daniela Patano they illustrated the details of the space. The administration of the progressive Largo Campo feels the need to give signals of change to the residents, who in recent weeks have proposed various solutions to degradation and insecurity.
As Delle Noci explained, at the moment the garrison will be operational from Monday to Friday on one of the service shifts and can include the presence of two to four units.
“With the new hires it will become the traffic and safety center of the railway district – remarked the commander -. This structure is under video surveillance for the protection of the property, but remote video surveillance is available from the control panel. The perspective is that of new hires. When the first inauguration took place it was difficult to ensure staff continuity. But this does not mean that it has not been used as a starting point for agents and services for the surrounding area. We have used it a lot to combat the pandemic with services aimed at vehicle control. It was never left unused, it was used according to staffing needs.”
The administrators focused on the personal issue, reiterating that the competitions will be entrusted to third-party companies. “The local police are understaffed – observed the mayor -, there are 130 officers but there should be 300, one for every 500 inhabitants. The Foggia area is the eighth largest municipal area. We are struggling to make up for the shortages, we will have more retirements this week. The directors will be appointed shortly. If I send some places back it means that I have no places to place and that’s a whole different story. We are careful in managing public money. Even the numerous cultural activities have negligible economic plans.”
