CATANIA – New hires by the ASP of Catania: the CISL Civil Service of Catania expresses its approval of the signing of 150 permanent contracts for nurses, which will take place in the next few days. For the CISL FP Catania general secretary Danilo Sottile, “this is a first step to address the three-year hiring plan but it is necessary to fill all the gaps, including other professional figures such as the OSS”.

The new hires

The hiring of 150 units by the ASP of Catania will take place with permanent contracts for nurses usefully placed in the ranking of the eastern basin competition. This staff will serve to give breathing space to all company structures, from hospitals to local healthcare and prisons, and for this reason CISL FP Catania applauds the organizational machinery of the ASP which, in a period decidedly surrounded by uncertainties, demonstrates the full desire to wanting to meet the commitments undertaken with the three-year hiring plan.

However, the general secretary of CISL FP Catania Danilo Sottile expresses the union’s perplexity on the effective adhesion of the candidates to their jobs: “The shortage of nurses, increasingly relevant on a national scale, could direct the competition winners themselves towards other public companies or, more worryingly, towards other private experiences which often demonstrate a greater attractiveness”.

The other professional figures

The general secretary Sottile and the trade union leader responsible for Asp Cisl FP Catania Nuccio Rizzo also underline: “The hiring of the 150 nurses is a start but many other shortcomings must be addressed. For example, we hope that the ASP will demonstrate the same commitment in hiring Social and Health Workers, figures who could not only remedy many of the organisation’s organizational discrepancies but, precisely because of the approach based on personal care, could elevate the system of supply in both a qualitative and quantitative sense”.

“The CISL FP Catania – concludes Sottile – is always committed to the definition and in the development of contractual instruments that bring benefits to workers in terms of quality of life and job satisfaction. In this way, workers can contribute to a more efficient functioning of the administrative machine, with the provision of better quality services to users”.
