I wanted to take a couple of days before sharing these bitter reflections. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all the people who sent me beautiful and touching messages.
Thanks to those who understood and experienced my moment of despair over our “defeat” and the re-election of someone I will never recognize as my mayor.
I was deeply struck by the bewilderment and the words of those who expected me to obtain many more preferences and to enter the City Council as an opponent of this right-wing council. In fact, I was surprised too.
In these 5 years, I have dedicated myself with true self-sacrifice to listening to citizens and their requests, offering my total availability. The strength, courage, determination and generosity that I put forward were evidently not appreciated.
It is not at all easy in politics, being an independent, free, outspoken woman who is not afraid to be herself in her truth, whether good or bad. One thing is certain: I didn’t spare myself.
I’ve learned that when you do something for others, you shouldn’t expect gratitude, and you shouldn’t feel bad if you’re ignored.
My energy, my passion and my desire to be useful to others were authentic, just as my fight and resistance against this city government was real, which has now been reconstituted and will no longer see me on the opposition benches .
I wish those who remain the utmost commitment to containing future damage.
I carry in my heart above all the people who are most in difficulty, and who are no longer here, like Giuseppe and Ulysses, to whom my “thank you” goes for making me a better person.
Now is the time for dear and loyal friends, who warm the heart when it bleeds a little…
