Once the 106 migrants from Humanity 1 have disembarked, the group will be divided between Abruzzo, Marche and Basilicata

ORTONA – At 7.43 the Humanity 1 docked at the port quay, the disembarkation of the first castaways, of the large group of 106, began an hour later. Not all the castaways will remain in Abruzzo, only 45 of which the minors and the most fragile subjects will stop here, 31 will be transferred to the Marche and 30 to Basilicata.

As the castaways got off the ship, each descent marked by the applause of the NGO crew, they were transferred by bus to the tensile structure in the Tamarete district where the administrative and reception procedures will be completed. One shipwrecked person has been admitted to hospital for checks.

Also on Thursday afternoon, the Humanity 1 crew rescued another 75 people, including women and children, from an overcrowded wooden boat that was at risk of sinking in international waters. The group is mainly made up of males and people from Bangladesh, but there are also Egyptians, Eritreans, Pakistanis, Palestinians, Syrians and Sudanese.

There are 11 unaccompanied minors, who will remain in Abruzzo, and 3 accompanied ones, 8 are women, all adults, one of whom is pregnant.
