Even the liberal party, whose list among those of the Alleanza per Gela did not reach the 5% threshold, chose to support Grazia Cosentino.
These are the reasons in a statement released by Grazio Trufolo:
“The Italian Liberal Party immediately embraced the political project “Alliance for Gela” with Totò Scerra as Mayor with the “Prima Gela Italian Liberal Party” list together with the “Avanti Gela” list, “Rinnova e Moderati” and the “Totò” list Scerra Mayor” Alliance for Gela, a centre-right political project, as always declared throughout the electoral campaign, not as a civic alternative to the parties but simply for not sharing the method of choice in identifying the candidate for Mayor.
Project which had an excellent result with around 25% of the votes and unfortunately due to a large number of votes it did not reach the objective of reaching the run-off.
Totò Scerra is a brilliant, serious person with great administrative experience and always coherent, courageous and very close to less fortunate people, rightly defined as “”Son of the people”.
The Liberals of Gela at the ballot line up, with conviction, to support the candidate Cosentino for Mayor for various reasons, first of all because we were already aligned with a centre-right alliance, secondly because when the Liberals choose, they always choose by privileging merit and between the two candidates in the field and it is clear to everyone that Cosentino has the best qualities as well as having an edge because she is very pragmatic.
Third but not least, the city cannot be entrusted to a person who as vice mayor has the greatest responsibility for having caused the municipality to go bankrupt by creating debts amounting to several million euros which the citizens of Gela must pay. One does not dare imagine the damage that could cause as Mayor.
Fourth point: we cannot hand the city over to the grillini, we have already experienced the Grillina union in Gela with Messinese sent home before the end of the council to avoid greater damage than it has created.
Gela needs a great cultural revolution and the united center right has the strength and skills to make this happen. We love Gela and the Gelese people and for this reason we vote Grazia Cosentino Mayor.
