A 66-year-old man died on Sunday afternoon in Anzio: he found himself in difficulty at sea due to the strong current, then once he returned to shore he lost consciousness. He is the second victim in a few days

BOLOGNA – A few days after the death of the 62-year-old teacher who was thrown against the rocks and drowned in Ladispoli on 13 June, another tragedy occurred on the coasts of Lazio, this time in Anzio. The facts date back to Sunday 16 June afternoon, when a 66-year-old man drowned: his name was Alfredo Baccarini, he was a surveyor and was from Lanuvio, which he died before the eyes of his partner. The two were spending the day at the seaside on a stretch of free beach in the Ponente area. As far as we know, after lunch the couple entered the sea to swim but at a certain point, perhaps due to the strong current, the two found themselves in great difficulty. They couldn’t get back to shore. The 66-year-old, in particular, he began to gasp, perhaps due to an illness (or congestion?). The lifeguards of the Saint Tropez establishment intervened to help them. Once they reached shore, Alfredo quickly lost consciousness and resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The first to try to resuscitate him were the lifeguards, then 118 also arrived. The port authority of Anzio and the carabinieri also arrived on site.

The partner is in shock. Roma Today also tells of the attempt of a 17-year-old boy, named Kristopher, to save him: he was on the beach and was one of the very first to intervene to help him. “My son tried in every way to save him,” Kristopher’s mother told RomaToday: “We tried to scream for help immediately, the wind didn’t help us. We felt helpless.”
