Electa publishes the exhibition catalogue Landscape Archive. Italy of the second half of the twentieth century in the CSAC collections, which is held at the Valserena Abbey in Parma, headquarters of CSAC, from 22 June to 23 December 2024.

The landscape is here understood as representative of many artistic and design reflections developed in Italy after the Second World War, resulting from research in the materials of the CSAC archives. An archive which itself becomes synonymous with cultural landscape in offering the inspiration for countless narratives. In fact, it ranges from fashionin the crucial transition to industrial culture, al project drawing for buildings of new functionality and purpose; from the photography documentary between urbanization and industrialization in years of strong changes, to that of an Italy with minor tones; from the cinema poster toart of figures such as Giosetta Fioroni and Mario Sironi, among others, who contributed in a unique way to the representation of the landscape in their works.

These are only part of the themes of the research collected in this publication, and which bring, if not an encyclopedic, certainly an exemplary look at crucial years for the development and modernization of our country. The essays are accompanied by an extensive photographic album which collects a large quantity of archival images and documents, to complement and deepen what is told in the first part of the book.

Together, exhibition and publication return the results of the research conducted as part of the three-year project Accessibility. From the physical archive to the digital archive and back. Technological and management innovation project for the promotion and valorisation of Communication Study Center and Archive – CSAC of the University of Parma, financed by the Ministry of University and Research. The materials finally systematized and fully entered into the CSAC archive, with the exhibition and the catalogue, are now shared with a wider public.

The inauguration of the exhibition Landscape Archive. Italy of the second half of the twentieth century in the CSAC collections at the Valserena Abbey, home of the Communication Study Center and Archive of the University of Parma, will be held on June 22nd at 11 am.
