The songs of Eugenio Finardi performed by the great singer-songwriter with the Pop Orchestra of the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory of Music in Parma; an evocative solo cello concert at sunset on the summer solstice; a journey through American Songs with the Jazz Ensemble of the Conservatory; and, finally, music by Mozart and Richard Strauss played by the “Boito” wind ensemble. These are the four proposals of the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory of Music of Parma as part of the program coordinated by the Municipality of Parma – Casa della Musica for the European Music Festival 2024. The events, also included in the “Giugno di Note” exhibition, are will be held from 20 to 27 June located between Piazzale San Francesco, the courtyard of honor of the Casa della Musica and the Church of San Francesco del Prato.

Thursday 20 June at 9.15pm in Piazzale San Francesco we start with “MUSIC IS REBEL. The Conservatory meets Eugenio Finardi and his music”. The songs of the famous singer-songwriter can be heard, on this occasion, in an unpublished and exclusive version, the result of the arrangements and orchestration curated by the prof. Maurizio Campo. The Institute’s Pop Orchestra will be on stage. The boys will work on the preparation of this concert side by side with Finardi himself, a precious opportunity to enrich their studies with an experience in close contact with one of the most prolific singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists on the Italian musical scene, the undisputed protagonist of blues all ‘Italian.

Friday 21 June at 8.00 pm, in the Church of San Francesco, it will be the turn of “BIRTH OF AN AURORA AT THE SUNSET OF THE SUMMER SOLSTICE”: the very young Alessandro Tagliavini (cello) interprets Suite n. 1 BWV 1007 by Johann Sebastian Bach.

On Monday 24 June at 9.15pm in Piazzale San Francesco you can attend “AMERICA – A JAZZ SONGBOOK” curated by Prof. Alberto Tacchini and with the Jazz Ensemble of the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory of Parma formed by Anna Maghenzani (voice), Gabriele Merli , Nicolò Cantini, Niccolò Omodeo (saxophones), Vito Lorenzoni (tenor saxophone and flute), Raul Guerriero, Manuel Capitanio (guitars), Alberto Leoni (piano and keyboards), Alex Lusardi (electric bass and double bass), Francesco Paganuzzi (drums) . The program includes music by Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Walter Donaldson, Wes Montgomery.

Grand finale with the “MASTERPIECES OF TWO CENTURIES” on Thursday 27 June at 9.15pm in the courtyard of honor of the Casa della Musica: the Ensemble of wind instruments of the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory directed by prof. Petr Zejfart interprets WA Mozart’s Wind Serenade K 375 and the Suite for 13 wind instruments, op. 4 by R. Strauss. On stage Marco Fenili, Cecilia Molinero (flutes), Carlo Barezzi, Rebecca Roda (oboes), Jennifer Piazza, Calogero Fiannaca (clarinets), Elia Messercola, Dario Bertolini, Andrea Russo, Elisa Bognetti (horns), Davide Tomasoni, Benedetta Pozzi ( bassoons), Davide Aquino (counterbassoon).
