From today the jobs for batch 2 of South Coast corresponding to the Torre Quetta area a Bari. An ordinance has been signed which provides for the narrowing of the roadway on the Di Cagno Abbrescia seafront between the Torre Quetta railway stop and the former Gs warehouse site until November 30th. Here the speed limit will be set at 30 kilometers per hour and special vertical and horizontal signs will be created. This is the first ordinance (the previous one had been annulled) with which prohibitions are established based on the start of the construction site for the first of the 6 lots of Costa Sud, for a total expense of 75 million euros.
The project
The construction site, already set up several weeks ago, therefore comes into full swing only in the final part of the Torre Quetta lot. At the end of the summer season, both the works for the other contract will begin, the one for the extension of the beach between Pane e Tomato and Torre Quetta, and those of the Costa Sud lot in the non-municipal areas that the administration is definitively expropriating in these weeks. For example, in July there will be the last call for the “untraceable” owners for whom the Municipality will proceed with taking possession of the land.
The lot 2 project mainly involves the naturalistic redevelopment of the coastal strip and the creation of a system of cycle and pedestrian paths. Play areas, spaces for bathing, public spaces and multi-purpose sports fields are planned. All routes will have a naturalistic character while ensuring the use of the area by people with disabilities and by emergency and maintenance vehicles. The road system will be modified by reducing the roadway.
But not just lot 2. After the delivery of the works, work also began on lot 6 corresponding to the Bellavista park. Here the construction site is less visible because it concerns a more internal area. The project involves the creation of a quality sports and recreational park, integrated into the environment and respectful of the existing landscape in the conservation of traditional elements – such as the dry stone walls of the old agricultural land and the existing vegetation – as structuring elements. On the basis of these pre-existing structures, the spaces will be articulated through a network of main and secondary routes of a mixed cycle-pedestrian nature, connected with the neighboring agricultural areas of the reticular park (object of lot no. 5)
How will it be
The park will be accessed in two points: from the beach underpass (currently under construction by RFI), a space identified at the roundabout, and from the park entrance from Via Gentile. Both areas will be equipped with children’s games, picnic tables, chess tables and rest areas and nearby gardens. As part of the works, the existing sports facilities will be recovered and redeveloped (football fields and athletics track, not the subject of this contract) and new areas dedicated to sport will be created. One of these will be equipped with playing fields (tennis, padel, volleyball/basketball and beach volleyball), the other, immersed in a green park to simulate paths under the forest, will have areas equipped for skateboarding, cross bikes and health circuit.
In the next few weeks, lots 4 and 5 corresponding to the Valenzano park and the Reticolare park will be delivered and finally the last two corresponding to Punta Perotti and Torre Carnosa. These will be the most complex also because they are presumed to be accompanied by disputes related to expropriation compensation. An initial passage has already taken place in the City Council but the last two projects will have to return to the Council for the final green light.
