FRANCAVILLA. Piazza Sirena, the port, the cycle/pedestrian path, the pier with Piazza IV Novembre, but also via Aldo Moro. Urban regeneration work continues in Francavilla, in some places completed, in others nearing completion and in others still resumed after a period of stoppage, as in the case of the new bridge over the Alento. Precisely starting from the latter, after the resumption of activities which took place a week ago, the mayor Luisa Russo he specifies: «Finally the workers have returned to work and I trust that the executing company will be able to respect the established timetable, which indicates the end of the works by the end of 2024. In the next few days the curtain wall will be assembled, a preparatory operation to the next phases of construction”.
A different story for Piazza Sirena, the heart of the city, which after months of interventions is practically ready to reopen completely within a few days. According to what the administration says, the construction site will be dismantled by the first week of July, so as to make the entire area fully usable during the busiest months of the tourist season. Also by the end of July, the second lot of the works currently underway inside the tourist port should be completed, also useful for providing new green spaces to the structure. In fact, after the gardens created with the first lot, a large car park will be built near the quay, as well as further flowerbeds close to Via Pola.
Continuing the overview, the redevelopment of the road surface, lighting and seating along via Aldo Moro was completed, as was the deteriorated asphalt of the northern Adriatic national team in the border area with Pescara and in Valle Anzuca.
Work is also planned on the side streets of the seafront, on the terrace overlooking the free beach adjacent to the Il Gabbiano lido, on the sea slides of the free beaches and on the walls of Piazza IV Novembre. These works will be completed after the summer, so as not to cause inconvenience during the period in which Francavilla is particularly crowded. «We are finally reaping the fruits of the actions undertaken so far by the administration», adds Mayor Russo. «We are returning a completely regenerated city center: citizens and tourists are already crowding the cycle path of Via Aldo Moro and will also appreciate the new Piazza Sirena, where splendid panoramic views will arise. This result is the result of a compact and cohesive team.” And he concludes: «We will not stop here: by the end of the mandate, we will implement other initiatives to make Francavilla increasingly beautiful, green and accessible».
