A year ago Lions Club Parabiago Giuseppe Maggiolini inaugurated the service at the municipal pharmacy of Parabiago “We with you against breast cancer” thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Parabiago, to the availability of the Pharmacy to collect appointments and above all thanks to the professionalism of Doctor Giorgio Carnevali accompanied by…an angel (Giancarla) who today we tried to thank with a lion symbol.
From a medical report “The numbers of cancer in Italy” it appears that mortality is decreasing and survival is improving for people affected by various types of tumors in Italy, with data generally better than those of the European average, but there are also some aspects less positive, which raise alarm bells and underline the importance of everyone’s commitment – researchers, doctors and citizens – to make cancer increasingly preventable and then curable.
Prevention is essential to combat diseases. It is good to relaunch this message aimed at women because in recent years, due to Covid, we have somewhat lost the habit of undergoing checks which, however, are fundamental. Breast cancer, after colon cancer, is among the most common in Italy.
Here are the reasons that led LC Parabiago Giuseppe Maggiolini to provide the population of Parabiago and surrounding areas with the possibility of undergoing a breast examination twice a month free of charge for an initial period of one year extended from today to two years at the medical clinic that supports the Parabiag Municipal Pharmacyor with whom specific agreements have been made.
In the first year, more than two hundred visits were carried out and the waiting list is still long as next September is already fully occupied. Even at the Legnano Pharmacy in via Canazza “work” is progressing very well thanks to the intervention of Dr. Gigi Armiraglio and Dr. Luciano Branchini whom the promoters sincerely thank for the generosity with which they make their time available for the Lions project but for the benefit of the female population, especially the younger group.
