A car journey of 2000 kilometers in 24 hours and Roberto Salis kept his promise. She brought home her daughter Ilaria Salis, a prisoner in Budapest after spending almost 500 days in Hungary where she was arrested on 11 February 2023 on charges of attacking far-right militants.
He left Monza yesterday and went to pick her up. “A nightmare is over,” he said as soon as he got out of the car and returned home with the filia.
Together, they took a photo in front of the Monza road sign and are now thinking about the party on Monday to celebrate his 40th birthday.
Since yesterday, Ilaria Salis has been a free woman after judge Jozsef Sos granted her immunity without waiting for the official proclamation of her election to the European Parliament, where she arrived thanks to the 176 thousand preferences obtained with the Greens and Left Alliance.
Waiting for his return to Monza, in the apartment not far from the park and the Villa Reale, were his two brothers and his closest friends, the same ones who followed all the hearings in Budapest and who always helped his family to resolve all the bureaucratic and logistical problems he had to face in 16 months spent between Italy and Hungary.
