General States of Volunteering: over 150 associations talking about the future of volunteering

On Saturday, 15 June 2024, it was held at the former Sant’Artemio hospital in Treviso the “General States of Volunteering” conference, organized by the “Volontarinsieme” group.

They were held yesterday, June 15th, the States General of Volunteeringa conference organized at the former Sant’Artemio hospital by the “Volontarinsieme” group, for discuss the future of volunteering activitieshow the associations intend to operate, in order to strengthen the collaboration network between them at the same time.

The initiative was sponsored by the Veneto Region, Aulss 2 Marca Trevigiana, the Province of Treviso, the City of Treviso, the Association of Municipalities of the Marca Trevigiana and the support of BCC Pordenonese and Monsile.

Promoter of the event was Anna CoròPresident of Volontariamente OdV, the largest network of voluntary associations in the Treviso area, which embraces over 300 experiences of solidarity, groups and associations.

The event began with the opening greetings of Stefano MarconPresident of the Province of Treviso, followed by those of Rosanna Vettoretti, Treviso councilor, and of Elisa Corrà, President of CSV Belluno-Treviso. Following this, several were presented contributions from the world of volunteering in the Treviso areaby groups such as AVIS, AIDO, AUSER and Civil Protection.

Following the institutional greetings, we moved on to the theme of “Equity, Values ​​and Representation”, key words underlying the speech Mario Paolinimusic therapist, pedagogist, trainer and teacher of Didactics for the training of support teachers.

What future for volunteering?

Great interest was created around the entitled round table “Volunteering and new Social Territorial Areas, Health and Local Authorities: what future?”, in which the President of the V Veneto Region Commission took part, Sonia Bescacinthe General Director of ULSS 2 Marca Trevigiana, Francesco Benazzithe OTC President of Veneto, Silvana Bortolamiand the Director of the Mental Health Department of Ulss 2 Marca Trevigiana Gerardo Favaretto.

“We are extremely satisfied with the numerous attendance and participation of the volunteers,” said the Anna Corò. “We have achieved the objective of creating a moment of meeting and discussion between all the associations, to further strengthen our relationships, our network and our collaboration, and try to generate new synergies with the institutional actors of our territory”.

“All this by virtue of the role that the associations hold today for the social fabric of Treviso. I believe that today we have marked an important moment of transition, in which the volunteers themselves have questioned themselves to create a new phase in our journey”.

The Director of ULSS2 added to Corò’s words regarding the role of volunteering for the community Francesco Benazzi:

“Volunteering is an important and fundamental resource for the community. An added value resulting from the daily work of people who dedicate effort every day to the benefit of others.”

“The presence of numerous associations that operate at all levels in different sectors in helping patients and in health information and promotion activities it is essential to give orientation, listening, help and comfort to patients and their families, which often bring needs that go well beyond the provision of healthcare services. There can be no care worthy of the name without listening to these needs and the world of volunteering also responds to these”.

In our region there is a great desire to create communitysocial and health services must know how to create a network and reach out to young people, finding new ways to speak to this world. There are many examples of willing young people. We must also think about a new welfare system, that does not work only by responding to requests, but manages the needs of the territory in a different way, with an overall vision”.
