Negramaro, the “Stadi 2024” tour started from Naples

“They are killing the sea, let’s save lives at sea.” It’s a Sangiorgi that you don’t expect, one that, on a festive evening, to paraphrase Lucio Dalla, also finds space to launch its message loud and clear in a city that has a symbiotic relationship with the sea and over the years has demonstrated qualities of great hospitality.

Negramaro kicked off their “Stadi 2024” tour in Naples yesterday, an event built to celebrate the twenty-year career of the Salento band. The setting was that of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, a symbolic place for a city with which Giuliano Sangiorgi and his companions have always maintained a special bond.

Sangiorgi arrived in Naples a few days before the concert to participate in his friend Gigi D’Alessio’s big musical party in Piazza del Plebiscito. Despite the coincidence of the Italian national team’s debut at the European Championships against Albania, around 30,000 tickets were sold to Maradona, demonstrating a reciprocated love.

The setlist opened with “Luna nuova”, which was followed by classics such as “You are my city”, “Il posto dei Santi” and “Let’s start over”. There was no shortage of some of the songs most loved by fans, such as the poignant ballad of “Fino all’imbrunire”, “La prima volta”, “Per uno come me” and “Ti è mai successo”.

A moment of great emotion was the tribute to Dolores O’Riordan, the singer of the Cranberries, with the performance of “Breathless”. Sangiorgi’s voice merged with that of the late Irish artist in a poignant union. More emotions with the homage to Naples: Alessandro Daniele took to the stage with one of his father Pino’s most iconic guitars and placed it around the neck of a visibly moved Sangiorgi. And off with “Napul’è” together with Alessandra Tumolillo and “Andro”, followed by “Mal di te”.

From tributes to greetings from friends and colleagues. Roberto Angelini and Niccolò Fabi shared the stage with Negramaro for the first performance of Fabi’s unreleased song, “Congiunzione astrale”. Aiello duetted with Sangiorgi on the notes of “Attenta” and presented an unreleased song by him, “Lente”.

The evening ended with a series of hits: “Meraviglioso”, “viene tutto passa”, “Parlami d’amore” and “Ora ti canto il mare” in the Remix version, completing a well-structured setlist that retraces in a the band’s story is effective. A mix of old and new hits, which satisfies a large part of the public. The band is in good shape and shows it in the more rock parts, where they let themselves go into respectable solos. The first one was good.

The 2024 tour now continues with the next stops in Udine (18 June), Milan (22 June), Messina (3 July) and Bari (6 July).
