An unmissable and traditional event of the prestigious Opera Festival of the Teatri di Pietra, now in its sixth edition, is the musical homage to Ennio Morricone. The 2 August at the Greek Theater of Tindari and the 10 August at the Ancient Theater of Taormina it will be a crescendo of emotions in an intimate and dreamy atmosphere, for a fitting tribute to the great Italian musician, composer and arranger. The concert dedicated to the “prince of twentieth-century Italian music” will also be given, for the first time, on 21 August, in the heart of Sicilian baroque: the open-air theater of the steps of the Cathedral of Noto.
The new concert format planned for the caveas of Tindari and Taormina will be enriched in this 2024 edition by the special participation of thelyrical pop tenor Alberto Urso. The artist from Messina, born in 1997, a television face strongly loved by a heterogeneous audience, has established himself on the international musical scene thanks to a unique vocal flexibility and a noble stage presence, consecrating him as an ambassador of bel canto in the world. The program is very rich, entrusted to the sumptuousness of theSicilian Lyric Choir and of thePhilharmonic Orchestra of Calabriadirected byFilippo Arliaand the unique voice of the soprano Maria Francesca Mazzara, with suggestive interpretations of the soundtracks of some symbolic films in the history of cinema such as Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Malèna, The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean, A Fistful of Dollars, Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, Giù la testa , Once upon a time in America. A look also at the “pop” side of the Roman composer thanks to the new suite “Ennio’s songs” composed, commissioned by the Festival Lirico dei Teatri di Pietra, by the talent of Corrado Neri for an exceptional triptych: from “Il mondo” up to “If by calling”.
Once again a high-level program for an event which is enjoying ever-increasing success among the public and critics and which promises, once again, to offer unique emotions in evocative places where, through the skilful work of the artists, the legend runs towards the eternity. A festival lasting more than three months, which produces over forty evenings of entertainment in the main archaeological parks, in the most famous ancient and Greek theaters but also in less well-known areas, characterized by the presence of treasures of inestimable value waiting to be known and valued.
The Stone Theater Opera Festival, recognized as an initiative of high cultural and artistic importance, takes place under the patronage of the European Parliament and the most important institutions such as the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers , the Ministry of Culture, of the Sicilian Region, Regional Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment and Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity and of the Sicilian Regional Assembly and has obtained the most prestigious and influential European quality mark EFFE LABEL, Europe For Festivals, Festivals for Europe.
