Corriere dello Sport: “Palermo without Lund. Quagliata priority”

Today’s edition of “Il Corriere dello Sport” focuses on Palermo and the transfer market with Quagliata in its sights.

Palermo finds itself in an emergency situation regarding the left-back role due to Lund’s call-up for the Copa America. The competition will take place from 20 June to 14 July in the United States and Lund, busy with the US national team, will not be available for the start of Palermo’s training camp scheduled for 7 July in Livigno. His absence, which could be prolonged if the United States were to advance in the tournament, forces the Rosanero management to find an adequate reinforcement for the left wing quickly.

This urgency is accentuated by the fact that last season coach Eugenio Corini had to face a training camp without available left-backs, due to Aurelio’s physical problems and Lund’s late arrival in August. Currently, with only Aurelio available, Palermo needs a new left back. The recently concluded championship has shown that Aurelio, formerly of Pontedera, is not yet ready to be a starter in a high-level Serie B team like Palermo. Furthermore, he would occupy an Over slot, and the club seems intent on loaning him out.

Lund should remain in Palermo, having shown potential and scored two goals, but he still has room for improvement especially in his defensive readings. For this reason, the club wants to support him with a strong full-back. Among the possible names is Giacomo Quagliata from Cremonese, already linked to Palermo in the past, who could represent a good option. Quagliata is from Palermo and wants to relaunch himself after a season in which he played with little continuity. Regardless of who is chosen, it is likely that the new full-back will be an Over player, to avoid the mistakes made by focusing on two Under profiles last season.
