The premiere in Beijing of “Spillover”, a film directed by Gianluigi Perrone and starring a young actor from Abruzzo

BEIJING – Edoardo Sferrella, a young emerging talent from Pescara, is rapidly conquering the international Asian cinema scene. Protagonist of the film directed by director Gianluigi Perrone, Edoardo worked on a project that saw filming take place between China, the United States and Italy. The film addresses the theme of the pandemic experienced on different continents, exploring its psychological and spiritual aspects including science fiction elements.

This film attracted the attention of the Soleterre non-profit association, which adopted it as a work of social interest as well as entertainment. The film, whose title still remains reserved to avoid spoilers, was presented as a world premiere in Venice, during the cross-culture event with China. Currently, the film is ready to be distributed in China and on DVD and Blu-ray in the United States, with great expectations also for a future release in Italian cinemas.

Edoardo plays Tazio, an exaggerated and grotesque version of what he describes as his “teenage self”, an introverted and nerdy boy, with difficulty relating to those who lack sensitivity but also who do not have the same sub-cultural background as him. Together with him, the Roman actor Giorgio Grasselli in the role of Manfredi, the gruff older brother, and the Neapolitan actress Clara Morlino in the role of Lucrezia, Manfredi’s partner.

The director of Apulian origins Gianluigi Perrone, author and academic, lives and works in Beijing, twenty years of experience and highly respected collaborations (Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Alejandro Jodorowsky and others), represents an esoteric bridge between China and Italy.

In the meantime, while he awaits the release of the film, Edoardo is currently in Tokyo busy on other film sets. The young actor is in fact the protagonist of a short drama produced by Aperol Japan, of a film project entitled “Become a Hero”, shot in Japan, also expected in cinemas, and is often a guest of institutional events at the renowned Italian Embassy in Tokyo , and linked to cinema such as the recent premiere of the film “City Hunter” where together with the cosplayer Yuriko Tiger they were the only Italian guests.
