The generous one didn’t make it Ivano Martinetti to return to Palazzo Lascaris.
His party, the 5 Star Movement, loses its last representative with him because from this moment, in the entire Cuneo area, there is no longer a five-star exponent in any institution, from Parliament to Municipalities, passing through Region and Province.
In the European elections the M5S obtained 14,285 votes (5.26%) in the province of Cuneo and 8,212 (3.42%) in the regional elections; however, the votes for presidential candidate Sarah Disabato were 4,000 more, 12,474 (4.53%).
In Alba, Martinetti’s party gets 3.37% and he, squeezed between a myriad of strong local candidates, scrapes together just 111 personal preferences in his city.
In total he put together 493, fifty fewer than those received in 2019 and which had allowed him to be elected in the Region.
There is perhaps no more eloquent parable than the five-star one to document the volatility of the vote in recent years.
From 2013 to today, the M5S has dispersed tens of thousands of votes in the Cuneo area.
From the maximum peak obtained in the 2013 elections with 26.3%, the consensus has always decreased until it fell below the threshold of ten percent (9.6%) in the European elections five years ago.
At the national political consultations in March 2018 the percentage fluctuated between 22.4% (Cuneo chamber of commerce) and 23.1% (Alba college).
At the last political elections in September 2022, the percentage had collapsed to 6.46%.
And to think that for two governments a “grillina” deputy from Cuneo, Fabiana Dadone, was minister of the Republic, first for youth policies and then for public administration.
A party, that of the 5 Stars, which in two decades has failed to structure itself in the Granda.
