LUCCA — “Stop gay pride, Lucca doesn’t want you”. This is the text of some flyers that appeared in the center of Lucca, in view of the event that will be held within the walls on September 7th.
The flyer shows the image of a panther, the heraldic symbol of the city, stretching its claws at a group of people representing the LGBT community. A gesture claimed by the movement Patriots Network.
“The Patriots Network wants to remind the organizers of this ridiculous, vulgar and provocative event, that the city of Lucca is firmly linked to its Catholic roots and to the values of the traditional family – we read – the sideshow that will parade in the city, flaunting grotesque attitudes and absurd claims, it will be a challenge against the good taste and common sense of the people of Lucca but certainly not against a phantom and non-existent oppression towards a minority as small as it is over-represented in the media and in debate”.
