Cesena, 15 June 2024 – Tragedy this morning at the station Cesena: one woman was hit by a convoy, along the Bologna-Rimini line near Cesena. Investigations are still underway to understand whether it was a voluntary act or an accident. The woman, homeless, was known in Cesena and was also followed by social services.

The circulation was suspended around noon and for many hours, in order to allow the findings of the judicial authority. Just around at 2.15 pm circulation slowly resumed on both tracks, but the delays continued for a long time.

Eventually, there were slowdowns up to 100 minutes for 5 high speed trainsuntil 150 for 7 Intercityup to 50 for 10 Regionals (20 limited and 4 cancelled).

Delays and cancellations

Many delays occurred on a route which, at the weekend, is considered the escape route from the very crowded A14 motorway (where an accident also occurred today): this caused a lot of inconvenience. The delays accumulated in Bologna station exceeded 80 minutes and buses with alternative routes were also activated.
