The Calabria Region at the digital innovation fair in Bologna

CATANZARO (ITALPRESS) – The Calabria Region present at the 2024 edition of the International Fair and Festival on Digital Innovation: Digital, AI and Tech – We Make Future – held in Bologna. A three-day event dedicated to the tourism sector and digital innovations, with the aim of encouraging territorial marketing activities and promoting Calabrian companies involved in digital innovation in the tourism sector. A large-scale event which recorded over 70,000 attendees in three days, involved 700 sponsors and exhibitors from more than 90 countries, 3,000 open innovation and stakeholders and saw over 1,000 speakers from all over the world as protagonists on the various stages. The main stage of the event welcomed musicians of great caliber over the three days, such as Manuel Agnelli, Gaia, Colapesce and Di Martino but also masters of Calabrian popular musical culture such as Mimmo Cavallaro and Santino Cardamone, who brought to the stage of the fair the great energy of traditional Calabrian music, making the many visitors present in the MainStage dance to the sound of tarantella. Three days, over one hundred events and a unique format that combined the Exhibition Area, Training, B2B Meetings, Networking, Culture, Concerts, Shows and Entertainment within the spaces of BolognaFiere. Present at the fair were national and international partners and companies, operators in the Calabrian tourism sector, committed to technological development and the promotion of Calabria through tourist routes and new innovative formats, to be offered to all those who choose Calabria as a destination for their holidays.

New virtual travel experiences, characterized by an ever-increasing involvement of digital tools, used to describe the peculiarities and characters of the different territories. Various innovative Calabrian companies were involved, who had the opportunity to present at the fair a Calabria projected towards the future, full of new projects and innovative ideas dedicated to the tourism sector: Pelagos – Museum of the Sea – Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area – EG Province of Crotone, Vision Space, Aliva Wood, Amal Italy, Municipality of Monasterace, Municipality of Gerace, Digital Communication Agency, Monasterace For Future, Protur Media, Calabria Excelsa – Digital Museum of Calabria. From niche tourist proposals, dedicated to tourist cultural inclusion, with trips dedicated to tourism and the global Halal economy, to particular attention to environmental sustainability, to the many immersive augmented reality experiences, Calabria tells its story at the fair with experiences and proposals new and high-impact tourist attractions. A different approach to the world of tourism useful for discovering new forms of travel and different ways of “experiencing” tourism in a historical moment in which the desire to explore new destinations is stronger than ever. The edition of the event for the year 2024 follows the previous ones, which from 2018 onwards have seen various regions, bodies, actors, stakeholders and protagonists of innovations in the tourism sector as protagonists. “A unique training and promotion tool for companies and innovative Calabrian entities, a great networking opportunity between the protagonists of digital transformation and innovation in the shooting sector”, as underlined by the general manager of the Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Mobility Department of the Calabria Region, Maria Antonella Cauteruccio. One of the main objectives of the WMF is to involve villages, small towns and cities in the innovation and digitalisation process of the country. At the Festival, local communities and territorial entities once again had the opportunity to present their products/services, coming into contact with citizens, bodies and institutions from all over Italy and the world, extending their network and creating new collaborations. To help people rediscover, through the support of technology, social media, innovation linked to augmented reality and virtual tours, the villages, parks, coasts, mountains and all the traditions and customs of the different places.
