“The role of park authorities and natural reserves in Campania, between protection of protected areas and development of territories” the theme of the workshop held on Friday 14 June within the 2024 edition of the States General on the Environment in Campania, Green Med Expo & Symposiuman event dedicated to all Green topics and the Circular Economy.
The meeting was moderated by Barbara Minicozzi – Consultant and designer for the Third Sector and social innovation. They attended, Costantino Caturano – President of the Taburno Camposauro Park Authority, Anthony Cuomo – President of the organisation “Foce Sele – Tanagro” and “Monti Eremita-Marzano” Nature Reserves, Susanna D’Antoni – Head of the Protected Areas, Land and Landscape Planning and Management Section, ISPRA, Anna Savarese – member of the Legambiente Campania secretariat, Luigi Barbati – President UNPLI Campania e Michele Palmieri – General Director DG Environment, soil and ecosystem protection of the Campania Region.
A moment of debate which was also an opportunity to bring together parks and protected areas of Campania with society, with communities, with the territory. A theme that intrigues and excites, but which often also shows tones of complexity.
It emerged that the Campania region it ranks among the top regions in Italy in terms of protected territorial areas, including National Parks, Regional Parks, Marine Protected Areas and other types of reserves. An immense heritage that must be the driving force for the redevelopment and environmental enhancement of the Region. The main objective to be pursued, according to the speakers, is therefore that of the protection of the natural and cultural heritage through environmental and cultural recovery and restoration, as well as the valorisation of forms of social aggregation for the maintenance of local identity.
