The Polytechnic of Bari is the university with the highest level of employment for master’s graduates. With an employment rate of 90.8%, the Bari university is first in Italy, followed by the Polytechnic of Turin (89% occupancy rate). The result of Poliba was highlighted by the 26th Report on the employment status of Almalaurea graduates, published on the basis of 2023 data: more than 90% of second level graduates, in fact, find employment one year after obtaining their qualification.
Thanks, according to the rector of the Polytechnic of Bari, Francesco Cupertino, to the «quality and above all the relevance of the skills of our graduates in the job market». The number of graduates is also growing: from 1864 in 2022 to 1920 in 2023, with an average age lower than the national one. A new success for the Polytechnic of Bari, which had already recorded the highest rate after five years in the previous editions of the report. «With these numbers – explains the rector – the Polytechnic of Bari demonstrates that it is increasingly a driver of development for the Territory and for the country. Everywhere, there is a huge demand for professionalism in line with our study courses but many more graduates are needed and this is why we have set ourselves the goal of growing in the coming years.”
During 2023, the demand for engineering graduates in Italy also grew, especially in the central-southern regions, and this is why «today we are moving towards an international development perspective which will allow us to attract the best talents, especially from the Mediterranean and further new investments, to give young people more and more opportunities for qualified work quickly” adds Cupertino.
Great results which, in perspective, promise ever greater goals, also in relation to the PNRR, given that investments relating to it are mostly concentrated in Southern Italy, which led to a 28.6% increase in the hiring of civil engineers and architects, but this must not be a “limit”. «We have the duty – concludes the rector Cupertino – to look beyond the PNRR to capitalize on the experience of large research projects, which have allowed us to build new networks of collaboration between public and private, to equip ourselves with innovative infrastructures, to experiment a working method that enhances research, accelerates technological transfer and favors the development of the production system, with obvious implications for employment and well-being for all”.
