A new location, the cloister of the Church of the Holy Spirit, a treasure chest a stone’s throw from Piazza del Collegio inside which it is also possible to admire a painting by Filippo Lippi, but also the debut of a Chinese cuisine restaurant. These are the two main innovations of the new edition of the event “Da chiostro a chiostro”, the Prato food and wine festival organized by Confesercenti scheduled for Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd July. On the two days starting from 7pm, in three city cloisters, that of San Domenico, of Sant’Agostino and of the Spirito Santo, there will be space for tastings of wines and typical local products.

“The event – he declares the Provincial President of Confesercenti Prato Stefano Bonfanti – wants to be the link between tourism and the traditions of our territory. Confesercenti Prato has decided to propose again for 2024 the event which in recent years has had a notable success. We worked to transform it into an attraction not only for Prato, but for the entire metropolitan area. Tourism, in fact, has completely changed its face over the last few years and food and wine has become a significant attraction for travellers. There are several cities that have adapted to this trend by rethinking their strategies for promoting the territory, creating streets and itineraries of taste, giving life to food festivals that act as a link between enthusiasts and producers. Combining food and wine with art and tourism is certainly a winning formula and our province, like all of Tuscany, is rich in typical products and gastronomic traditions. Protecting and promoting these products is certainly one of the tasks of every local entrepreneur from an agricultural, industrial, commercial and tourism point of view”.

“This new edition – he underlines Renzo Bellandi President of the restaurateurs participating in Confesercenti Prato – aims to be a journey capable of giving emotions to the public and the companies involved. An event that will bring together the restaurants and their chefs in a real village of taste in the historic center of Prato for all food and wine enthusiasts and more. Particularly significant was the presence for the first time of a colleague who manages a Chinese restaurant. For more than thirty years Chinese cuisine has also started to make its way in Prato where it now represents a rather developed specialized food market. Diversity is the key to the success of this type of restaurant. Knowing how to give your customers a special meal that remains imprinted in their taste memory. Nowadays, even in our city, generic Chinese cuisine in cheap and poorly maintained places is giving way to real restaurants with great and positive appreciation from customers”.

Going into the details of the event, in Cloister of San Domenico various restaurateurs will be present and will offer some local specialties; The cloister of Sant’Agostino will host the desserts of the Prato pastry chefs while in Cloister of the Holy Spirit space for live music and drinking made in Prato.
