MONTESILVANO – The investigations and the news the following day give us chilling details of the tragedy at the Montesilvano train station, where a 41-year-old mother and 10-year-old daughter, residents of the Pescara town, died when hit by a Frecciarossa under the eyes of many witnesses.
The little girl should have been baptized today, as Bruno D’Alfonso and Patrizia Pennella wrote in the pages of Il Messaggero this morning. The ceremony was scheduled for 6.30pm in the Beata Vergine Maria church of Villa Carmine. It was a wish of hers, which she had expressed to her parents – her father is a small businessman from Montesilvano, who had married the woman of Cuban origins in 2003 – because, she said, she wanted to be like her companions even in the Catholic religion. The little girl was also very good at karate and at the end of June she would have received her orange belt.
The cameras at the train station cleared away any further and residual doubts in the investigators. Mother and daughter were sitting on a bench and got up when the transit of the Frecciarossa was announced, with the warning to stay away from the platform. She approached the edge of the platform and a moment before the train passed she let go, pushing the little girl too.
