The computerized access control system in collection centers will be implemented in July

The new access control system in the four collection centers of the Municipality of Vicenza will be active from Monday 1 July, in a first experimental phase which is scheduled to run until 31 October.

The flow of waste (9,136 tonnes) and the high number of accesses (140,000) recorded in 2023 in the four municipal recycling centers led to the decision to review the entry control methods for the 64 thousand users. The project involves monitoring and access control by the operator, using a web application on a tablet, for the North, East and South collection centers, and with an automatic totem with barrier positioned at the entrance, for the West recycling center. One choice, that of not placing a totem on all four recycling centers, is due to the limited spaces of the three collection centers which prevent its installation. The two access methods will be complementary to each other and integrated into the same system, sharing the same access regulations.

«Today we are activating a useful and practical service that will help citizens – he declares Sara Baldinato, councilor for the environment, energy policies and heritage -. This system will serve to inhibit use by those who are not entitled to it and who will cause an increase in costs which must then necessarily be distributed among everyone. Furthermore, new cards will not be necessary to access the recycling centres. Furthermore, this new service will considerably reduce users’ waiting times at the entrances to the collection centres, simplifying the identification procedure for access”.

The citizen, i.e. the domestic user, will be able to access the collection center by reading the tax code, printed as a barcode on the back of the health card or electronic identity card, without the need for further new cards. For businesses, or for non-domestic users, identification will instead take place via the website www.aimambiente.it. Through the SPID, the legal representative of the company will be able to authorize the tax codes of the employees who will have access to the collection center.

To allow access to the collection center for all people belonging to the same family unit, connection to the national registry is also provided. The new access control system will therefore allow: verification of registration in Tari, verification of regularity in payments of Tari debts, access blocked or allowed to specific taxpayers, and potentially the number of accesses limited for a specific period. During the experimental phase, which will last until October 31st, access will be monitored but free. A transitional period, therefore, which will allow Aim Ambiente to analyze any critical issues and calibrate the service as best as possible.

On the occasion of the presentation of the project, the recent purchase of the first 100% electric vehicle by the Insieme Cooperative was also made official. Vehicle, designed mainly to carry out the bulky waste collection service at home and the collection of the textile fraction, in agreement with Agsm Aim in the Municipality of Vicenza. The new purchase of the Cooperativa Insieme vehicle fleet is equipped with sufficient autonomy to carry out a day of activity without the need for breaks, as well as a digital scale on the floor, useful for strengthening traceability and data collection activities. Charging will take place every day at the cooperative’s headquarters, in via Dalla Scola, where two photovoltaic systems and multiple charging points for electric vehicles are installed.

An investment decided and supported by the cooperative itself, demonstrating the desire to reduce the environmental impact and provide quality responses to the needs of the area.

The home collection service for bulky waste, which has been active for over 20 years, has seen an average of 147 tonnes collected and over 3,000 appointments in the last three years. The methods of accessing the service are simple and practical: it is possible to book a collection of bulky waste via the toll-free number 800 748 746, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm, and on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm. The service is free and reserved for domestic users, it provides for an issue every two months, with withdrawal of a maximum of five pieces per issue.
