«I never thought that through a television program I would have a job interview in a large company in the hope of getting my dream job. But sometimes good things happen and now I’ll tell you about my experience.” She is Giulia Balestrucci, she is from Terni and is 35 years old, she has a 5-year-old daughter and she studied energy engineering in Terni for the three-year course, and then continued with a specialization in mechanical engineering at La Sapienza in Rome. On Saturday 29 June Giulia will be among the protagonists of a new episode of ‘We are looking for you: mission work’, broadcast at 11.15 on Rai 2, presented by Adriana Volpe.

«I was looking for a new job in my sector – she says – because in Terni my role was not much sought after, when in May I was contacted via Linkedin by a large mineral water company in the province of Venice. They explained to me that they were interested in my profile as an energy engineer and that they wanted to interview me for the company’s energy team. They also ask me if I had the opportunity to carry out the interview in person because as a company they had decided to participate in the Rai program ‘We are looking for you: mission work’, the new format in which the public can learn about an entrepreneurial reality looking for a professional figure to implement your staff. Real job interviews filmed by cameras, to then eventually sign the employment contract.”

Initially Giulia was a little hesitant, «because it made me a little anxious knowing that I would be filmed in all phases of the interview, telling my story on TV, but then I thought it could be a great opportunity and I couldn’t miss it to a little bit of fear. I took the plunge and accepted. From home I had to prepare a project with a presentation that I would then have to integrate once I had taken a tour of the company and, at the end of May, I left with a baggage full of dreams, emotions and hopes. Once I arrived at the company I discovered a gigantic reality and all the fears suddenly passed, now I was there I had to make it, the more I went around and discovered things the more the desire and hope of being chosen grew in me”.

«Participating in the program with me – he explains – there were two other candidates and each of us had an initial interview with human resources. We subsequently recorded ‘confessionals’ in which we introduced ourselves, told our personal and work stories and gave our first impressions. Then came the most important part, the practical test where we presented the designs to the chief engineer. There I really gave my all, I was clear and I didn’t have to get caught up in emotion. I studied a lot and worked a lot on this project, I wanted to make a good impression and I was proud that everything was caught on camera to show it to my daughter one day and make her understand that you must always believe in dreams and work hard to make them come true” .

After the practical test, «I couldn’t stand it anymore, I was too curious to know how it went. But we had to wait a little longer to find out which of us would be selected. Each of the candidates was given a box and inside it contained a badge: only one would open the office door. One by one they took us into an elevator, asked us to go upstairs and once we reached the door we would have to try to open it. My heart was pounding.” Will Giulia’s badge have opened the office door? Could she have signed the contract with the company? To find out we will have to wait until Saturday 29 June, at 11.15 on Rai 2. Good luck Giulia.
