Reggio Emilia “Settlement and write-off” agreements to pay all creditors, with the exception of employees, who have already been paid, to definitively cancel the debt status, before facing the judicial liquidation procedure, declared on May 16th.
This is the intent of the property of Silk Sports Car Srl, which should have built (as illustrated with great fanfare in 2021) a mega plant for electric and hybrid supercars on the outskirts of Reggio Emilia, precisely in Gavassa. The project, presented several times as a flagship for the area, has equally sensationally evaporated with the books ending up in court.
The 65 employees – as he states the lawyer Pasqualino Miraglia – were all paid last May after the former workers complained to the management. Once this chapter closes, a new one opens. The company intends, in fact, to honor its debts towards creditors – for an amount of around 20 million euros, according to what has been filtered – before the hearing for the examination of the debt status, scheduled for this autumn. And it would intend to do so through “settlement and write-off” agreements. In other words, through this agreement, a debtor settles his credit for a lower sum than what was initially due, writing off part of the amount. There are also high-sounding names on the list of creditors. «The ownership would like to close the situation in good standing Silk Sports car Srlthat is, through direct negotiation between creditors and debtors, the items that are still open – states the lawyer Pasqualino Miraglia to whom Silk Sports Car Company Ltd, owner of the Italian shareholder structure, asked to act as an intermediary in this case too, as well as for the employees -. The amount of debt should be around 20 million.”
The company would therefore remedy the debt exposure to creditors for a significant amount. This, however, would not be the only reason that would push to close the accounts: there would also be a rather thorny image issue linked to ownership. In fact, we want to stem as much as possible the further damage to our image that would result from dragging the issue out for any longer.
A negative echo which, moreover, has already caused a lot of discussion, when it began to be understood that the high-sounding project would only remain on paper and, in Gavassa, works began, but not linked to the creation of luxury supercars.
In the meantime, the Silk Sports Car Sr.l. website, which for a few seconds promises to redirect the user elsewhere, is deactivated.
